MARS Memory-Health Network works closely with all fields of the medical community, including family physicians, pediatricians, gerontologists, neurologists, cardiologists, among others.
Physicians should refer adults to MARS Memory-Health Network if they suspect the individual may be experiencing memory loss. Suspicion can arise from one or more of the following risk factors:
- Memory concerns from the patient or family members
- A family history for dementia
- Over 65 years old
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Diabetes
- History of head injuries
- Sleep apnea
Physicians should refer individuals 16 and older to MARS Memory-Health Network if they suspect the individual may be suffering from psychological disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety, etc.), cognitive or attention disorders (ADHD, Intellectual Disabilities, etc.), or learning challenges. Suspicion can arise from one or more of the following factors:
- Inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity
- Underperforming in school or work
- Trouble concentrating
- Feeling sad or irritable
- Changes in appetite, sleep, energy
- Thoughts of suicide
- Cognitive complaints (e.g., memory, attention, planning, etc.)
